A group of students organised in the UCL Social Forum, UCL Stop the War
Society and the UCLSSWS, together with other activists, occupied the
University College London on the eve of the national march against the
occupation of Iraq.
Despite all their lofty promises about the
priority of "education, education,
education", and their pledge that there would be no top up fees, Blair and co
intend to pass the bill for higher education once again onto students and their
parents, making it yet more difficult for students from poorer backgrounds to
get to university.
Once again Tony Blair
and the Labour Cabinet are prepared to take on the wider labour movement and its
own natural supporters in imposing the unpopular policy of top-up university
fees. Will they get away with it this time?
