Seizure of British sailors by Iran – who is provoking who?

Details Yossi Schwartz logo 28 Mar 2007
thumb_sailors_captured_imageThe real question to be asked is not whether the British sailors were in Iranian or Iraqi waters. The real question is who benefits from this "provocation". The incident would seem to fit in well with the plans that imperialism has to strike at Iran's nuclear development plan.

Bush places his final bet on Iraq

Details Maarten Vanheuverswyn logo 09 Feb 2007
thumb_threadGeorge W. Bush last month announced his "new strategy" for Iraq. His speech consisted of the usual rhetoric about "establishing democracy" and "defeating the terrorists" but particularly a lot of wishful thinking. Like an about to be defeated poker player, US imperialism faces the problem every gambler has when he is losing: if he leaves the table, he won't be able to win back his losses. But a final bet can prove fatal too.

Pakistani Marxist speaks in Lebanon

Details a comrade in Beirut, Lebanon logo 12 Jan 2007

The International Conference in Solidarity with the Lebanese Resistance against Imperialist aggression was held at the UNESCO Building in Beirut on November 16-19.

Comrade Lal Khan, who is the International Secretary of the Pakistan Trade Union Defence Campaign (PTUDC) and Editor of the Asian Marxist Review, had been officially invited to address the conference. Here we provide a summary of his speech, which, we hope, will be of great interest to our readers.

Lebanon: A Kind of Ceasefire

Details Yossi Schwartz in Haifa, Israel logo 23 Aug 2006
Immediately following the ceasefire the government of Israel attempted to convince the Israeli population, and its friends abroad, that Israel had ‘won the war'. Now they are forced to beat a hasty retreat from such declarations, as no-one in Israel is stupid enough to swallow them. We reproduce here the latest article from www.marxist.com on the current situation in Lebanon

War in Lebanon adds to instability in the Middle East

Details Pablo Roldan (London Hands of Venezuela) logo 10 Aug 2006
The latest war in Lebanon, apart from showing the brutality and barbarism of the Israeli government and its main allies and supporters, is also shedding light on the limits of US imperialism.
