Comrades from the International Marxist Tendency discuss the Pastun movement and the repression of the Pakistani state against socialist activists.
Over the last week, comrades from across the International Marxist Tendency have been campaigning for the release of socialist activists in Pakistan, who were abducted by the state for their role in supporting the massive Pashtun Tahafuz (Protection) Movement (PTM).
Thanks to the efforts of comrades across the world, all of the abducted comrades have now been released by the Sindh Rangers, their paramilitary captors.
In this solidarity meeting in London (held on Thursday 26th April), Fred Weston – editor of In Defence of Marxism – gives the political background to the Pashtun movement and the repression of Pakistani activists.
In addition, Arsalan Ghani and Beatrice Palmieri bring messages of support from the Pakistan Trade Union Solidarity Campaign and the Marxist Student Federation, respectively – explaining why the struggle in Pakistan is part of the same struggle of workers and youth across the world.
