Speaking at the recent conference of the Marxist Student Federation, Ellen Morton of the Glasgow Marxists discusses the revolutionary events of 1968.

In France, Czechoslovakia, Mexico, Pakistan, the USA, and elsewhere: the year 1968 saw radical movements of workers and students breaking out across the world.

In particular, Ellen looks at the example of May 1968 in France, where a mass general strike saw workers taking over factories and students occupying universities. The Communist Party could have overthrown the government and carried out a revolution.

Ellen analyses the lessons of these events, and explains the steps needed to build a movement capable of overthrowing capitalism globally today.
