Today marks 70 years since the truce that brought a stop to the Korean War and divided the peninsula. Events surrounding the conflict revealed both the brutality and cynicism of US imperialism, and the crimes of Stalinism, leaving a historic scar.
The Spanish Civil War began on this date in 1936 with the beginning of the coup by General Franco. The fascist forces could have been defeated, with the working class rising up and fighting back. But their heroism was betrayed by the Stalinists.
