Only the united struggle of the workers of Israel, Palestine, Egypt and elsewhere can offer a way forward. The only solution to the problems of the masses within the Middle East is through the establishment of a Socialist Federation. It is probably clear to most of our readers that American
capitalism has entered a period of acute crisis. Even the boom preceding this
recession was one marked by the emergence of the ‘rust belt’ – decaying cities
once epicentres of the world’s most prosperous industrial working class, such
as Detroit and Baltimore. Baltimore, which is majority black, used to have one
of the US’ most wealthy black populations. It is now synonymous with crime,
drugs and decaying industry, with the second highest murder rate in America.
And all this before the looming recession. It is no wonder it has been reported
that many Americans feel like they have been in a recession for some time.
The
crisis capitalism has entered globally is having a deep impact on the
real living conditions of billions of workers all over the world. With
this comes a growing consciousness among ordinary working people and
youth that something is seriously wrong with this system, that this
cannot be the way human beings have to live. Workers are looking for an
explanation and proposals of how to get out of this mess. We have
produced a Manifesto which outlines the causes and puts forward a
programme of action for the international labour movement.
