New Irish Marxist Website: Fightback

We are delighted to announce that a new website operated by the International Marxist Tendency in Ireland has now been established. The new site will carries a Marxist analysis of events within the whole of the island of Ireland, reports of workers struggles and perspectives for the development of the class struggle across the 32 counties.

The new site is being launched at a crucial time for the Irish working class, the economy in the 26 counties has gone into freefall and the response of the bosses and the government has been to prepare a whole series of attacks on jobs, public services and workers living standards. The response of the Irish working class has been both immediate and militant with the occupation of Waterford Crystal and the huge demonstration in Dublin in February.

Meanwhile, in the North of Ireland Sinn Fein and the unionists preside over the toothless Stormont assembly, offering no genuine solutions to the problems of working class people. There is a huge political vacuum in the North, particularly in terms of a genuine voice for working class people. Fightback supports the call for the trade unions to establish a mass non sectarian party of Labour in the North. We are confident that the ideas of genuine Marxism will receive an increasing echo throughout Ireland.
