hhornos1.jpgThe first part of “The hour of the furnaces” (Argentina, 1968), Neo-colonialism and violence, is not only great cinema, but a powerful analysis of the deep causes of underdevelopment in Latin America and neo-colonialism. Drawing from an international rich tradition of revolutionary and social cinema - the influence of Eisenstein’s editing is present throughout it - this work will not let anyone indifferent.  Solanas and Getino have sharpened the political and analytical character of the cinematographic art as no one else. Following Marx’s dictum, “The hour of the furnaces” not only interprets reality, but aims to change it. Undoubtedly, it is a must see.
