2009 Xmas Fighting Fund Appeal Print E-mail
By Steve Jones
Tuesday, 24 November 2009

2009 has been a momentous year for Socialist Appeal. The move from a magazine to a full colour tabloid format was without a doubt the biggest step we have taken since we started publishing in 1992. Through the years we have made a number of advances but this was the one which carried the most risks since it was dependant on us firstly raising the funds to go ahead and then increasing the sales to make it worthwhile and cost effective. The prize was being able to reach more people with a higher quality paper that still had the highest quality content within it.

Well the response we have had since the paper format was launched has been fantastic. Sales have shot up with record sales being reported in from many areas. But we need to keep it up. We also need to make certain that we have the resources to ensure that our paper remains the best it can be. The only financial reserves we have are those which come from readers and sellers donations. New computers, copiers, new software and more – all these requirements have to be funded in advance. So at this seasonal time of year we are asking all our readers to chip in and help us meet our Xmas fighting fund target of £6,000. This is quite a modest figure but every penny will be needed in 2010. One reader has already given £200. Others have made a point of paying the £2 solidarity price.  If all our readers gave just a fiver then we would be a very long way towards the target. But we are confident that there are also some readers who can give a bit more. So don’t delay in getting that cash in.

You can donate online by going to the wellred bookshop at www.wellred.marxist.com and clicking on the Xmas donation logo . Or you can pay the old fashioned way by sending cheques etc (made payable to SASC) to us at Socialist Appeal, PO Box 50525, Poplar, London E14 6WG. Either way this investment in socialism will be the best thing you can do at this time of year to help ensure a capitalist free future for us all.

On behalf of Socialist Appeal can I thank you all for all the support you have given us this year and look forward to more of the same over the coming weeks.
